On September 11, 2001, I sat in the wide-open reception area of Quadriga Worldwide in London. The room was bright and open with one wall made up of all TVs. QW sold technology services to hotels all across Europe and I finally had a meeting to pitch our technology. The lobby had a wall of TVs showing the latest movies. The brand-new product my 18-month-old start up was launching was a digital technology that enabled hotels to sell movies to guests in their rooms. It was a big change to our bread and butter financial technology that sold multi-monitor displays to traders on wall street. Apparently, the current movie of choice these days was one of those action movies set in NYC. I hate plane crash movies. It was on every screen of the entire wall. My phone rang and I answered it, but I was distracted looking over my presentation. It was my home office back in Texas. 1e1e36bf2d
